5/18/11 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Wednesday

by Katie (Jenny Craig 2009 Poster Girl) 18. May 2011 19:40

One of my readers who has reached her goal weight with Jenny Craig (congratulations!) has a huge fear of going off the program and on her own.  My husband is actually going through a similar situation right now.  The concerns are definitely valid:

  • Jenny Craig prepared meals are easy when you have a busy lifestyle
  • It seems overwhelming and scary to shop for yourself at the grocery store
  • It's daunting to eat on your own because you're so fearful you'll gain back all the weight

My advice to my reader and my husband is to educate yourself.  The fear of the unknown is scary.  But, the more you know, the more confident you'll become.  My consultant had me go to the grocery store and write down every meal I wanted to make from the grocery store for a week.  Then, I took my "menu"/ grocery list into her and we analyzed everything.  I took pictures with camera phone and we went over all the nutritional facts.  If you refer to my blogs from 2009 I have a lot of advice regarding sodium, sugar, how many calories, how much fat per meal, etc.  Don't be afraid to eat on your own.   There are TONS of healthy options.  Feel free to ask me or if you're in the JC program do NOT be afraid to ask your consultant as many questions as you want...that's what you're paying for!
