Well, it's official: I called the doctor and it is not an iron deficiency - thank goodness! I was worried because iron pills make most people nauseas and constipated - neither of which do I want considering I am still nauseas almost everyday. Lucky me, I know. My six month check up went great! The baby's heart rate is healthy and in fact, he was moving quite a bit when the doctor tried to listen to him. The only thing I had a minor meltdown about was the weight gain. I've gained 18 lbs. since the start of my pregnancy. Seriously, if one more person says to get over it because I'm pregnant I may cause bodily harm to them (just kidding!). I realize I'm going to gain weight and all the books say about 15 lbs. by now is normal, however, my brain is not normal. Some may think I'm being ridiculous but it's cathardic for me to talk about it. The more I talk about my feelings the better I end up coming to accept it. I just can't imagine gaining 15 or more pounds the next three months. I can't help it, the weight gain each time I get on the scale reminds me of when I was a big girl. I can't help the thoughts that creep into my head about what if I can't lose it after I give birth. On top of it, we women talk about it whether we admit it or not. After my friends have babies we all talk about what's normal and how they look. I try not to be part of it but I'm human and it's easy to get sucked in. i just know many of my friends wouldn't admit they do this even though they do. Ugh, I'm dreading my next appointment because I'm bound to gain several more pounds. My advice to others out there that feel the same way as me? - Talk about it. Eat the best you can and that's all you can do. Don't let others dismiss your feelings. Opening and up and communicating about it will help you deal with it.
