You may think that once you start weight that the people around you will be genuinely excited for you. WRONG.
I had a goal weight that I was dedicated to reaching with Jenny Craig. As I was upon my last 10 pounds people started to be openly critical with me. At work I would bring my Jenny Craig lunch and I got a lot of flak for still eating JC. People made comments such as, "You look fine. You're thin enough. Start eating regular food. When will you eat like a normal person? You need to let go of a certain number and starting eating unpackaged JC foods." Well, let me tell you, hearing these comments day after day gets really old. Yes, I had dropped a lot of weight but who did they think they were to be openly judging me? JC was handling it and obviously they would not let me continue the program if I got too thin. But, I had worked really hard to reach my goal weight and darn it, I wanted the glitter and excitement that went with achieving this!
I don't know if it was jealousy, concern, or just curious questions but it began to get really frustrating eating with the rest of my colleagues. Even my extended family hounded me. You know what I don't get? People always had opinions for my parents when I was too fat, well now they had them because I was too thin! Weight is on everyone's minds and seems to be the topic of a lot of conversations doesn't it? I decided I was going to have a who cares attitude. My husband, immediate family, JC, and I knew I was healthy and other than that, who else's opinion really mattered?!
Stress can be a contributing factor to weight gain. Tomorrow I will discuss ways that I help relieve this.
